ARE EBOOKS DEAD?
Amazon recently developed their own digital eBook device, ‘the Kindle’. Amazon is reporting high volume sales and back orders for the product and the content available that can be downloaded and read. Additionally, the device can be portable.
Amazon is not the only developer that invests heavily in digital ebook media and devices. Microsoft, Adobe and Sony are other developing companies at the top of the list.
The fact is.. EBOOKS ARE NOT DEAD, but expanding in sales as each moment passes.
There is something to be said about the importance of how video is saturating the market place; however it does not replace eBooks. Just the same as eBooks are not substitutes for paper or hardback books.
EBook Self-Publishing is thriving and is a consideration for any aspiring writer.
You can realize that ebooks will never replace the physical book. There will be a need for hardback or paperback style book, at least for the next 75 years, in certain circumstances and on particular occasions.
Not only are we in an Information Generation, but we are steadily climbing into a world of Digital Media as a world empire.
Digital Readers and content presentation Devices enable a variable format for subject matter management. There could be logical reasons why in certain settings and surroundings why a PDA, computer or other type digital device reader could or should be used versus a physical or bulk style book..
- Can you recall carrying books and notebooks (not computer devices) either by full hands, back packs or even your friends extra arms?
- Can you think or remember when you had to flip through voluminous indexes, table of contents, chapters and hundreds of pages to find the exact phrase or specific detail you needed to read or once again find?
- Can you recall the Literary Works of thousands of bulky pages so large you could barely lift the book to read?
- Can you remember when you required quick access to important and necessary information you read prior, but could not locate the specific subject matter again?
Digitally Delivered Information is here to stay and is the future for the instant gratification people seek.
I for one, would surely, carry one digital type reading device; weighing less than 1 pound, enabling me complete access to volumes of data, indexing of content and readability for billions of subject matter instead of walking through rows and rows of shelves stacked with paper volumes with millions of pages.
If you have not realized that this digital age, (not information age as we are beyond that), is the same if you were living in the era of when television first became known to the few before the general population could afford to buy one.
It is the same as when only the few had personal computers, and others wondered why you would even own a PC and printer.
The Internet is still in its pioneering years and it would be a feather in your cap to be among the few self publishers who have their ebooks in digital format.

History does repeat itself in the way of cultural advancement. It is always those who are among the first to enjoy the discovery and partake in the operations that also benefit from the rise over years.
Simply said, individuals who became the benefactors and enjoyed the riches were persons first into TV that prospered most, Gold Diggers who mined the profits before the rush, Automobile manufacturers when cars were a new way of transportation, airplanes and pilots when air travel was made available to the public, cellular stations when only 5% of the population knew what a cellular phone was and how it can now be used for streaming video, HDTV in its beginning years, Digital Cameras and Cam Recorders and just about any Digital Device existing today or in the development stages.
Procrastination will be the reason you will not be in the walk of pioneering ebook self-publishers.
